Of Roots & Wings
There are people who make things happen
There are people who watch things happening
There are people who ask, what happened?
People
belonging to the first category are ready to accept challenges,
ready to take an arduous journey towards the goals set
by them. The Waymade College
of Education is set to undertake a similar
journey in order to prepare teachers who can be moulders
of the society. A well- organised education system has
a capacity for creating consciousness in people which
may enable them to understand the need for desirable changes.
Teachers, as the architects of the society, ought to equip
themselves with the requisite knowledge, skills, perspectives
and attitudes. That's why life skills, values, global
outlook and national development are the main components,
as represented by the main brances of the Banyan tree.
The banyan
tree which is an Indian tree projects the idea that though
an English Medium College of Education, we are rooted
in our culture, in the Indian ethos, traditions, values.
Hence, the journey here is from Pathshala to Personal
Computer, from school to space. The banyan tree with its
ariel roots coming back towards the soil also symbolises
that the individual developing at this institute will
be an autonomous individual as developing life skills
such as learning to do, learning to live together, learning
to learn and learning to be are the dynamics of the activities
organised at the college. This autonomous individual contributes
to the society, ultimately helping it to be an autonomous
society.
Our Credo
is Redefining Excellence:
From Knowledge-Seeking to Knowledge-Creation.
We start our journey as knowledge-seekers, oriented to
societal well-being but the journey doesn't end here.
Going one step ahead, we try to perform the role of facilitators
towards creating a knowledge society. The dream coupled
with the right attitude here is societal reconstruction
through quality education.
The Logo
of the institute centers around different facets of education:
the goal, the path leading towards the goal and the learning
atmosphere. In the Indian ethos 'journey' and 'path' ,symbolise
perseverance and progress. The blue curved path in the
upward direction represents the pilgrimage of a student.
The bright sun symbolises both the penance requisite of
a 'swadhyayi' or a student, as well as the brilliance
that is the outcome of the penance. The soothing green
background represents the conducive climate needed for
an individual's growth.
