How technology integration has transformed Waymade College of Education into a great learning place

- A Case Study

This institution exemplifies an example which illustrates intense presence of not just the infrastructural inputs across college but also of an extremely fascinating ambience in the campus. To say the least, such centers have surpassed the overall objectives that Intel had when it launched the program. The technological insights and approach is not confined to a few subjects but has been transformed in overall learning and pedagogy. A commendable initiative has been taken by the college administration of imparting technology support informal education to the children. Thus, one can sense the spread of TAL' in both informal as well as formal and an effective way. This laddering down effect seen in this case is a great achievement in the earnest effort of the college.

The TE's as well as STs of this college were exemplary when it came to responding to the questions based on technology integration. The amount of zeal and passion they displayed during discussion was simply immeasurable. It was also found that things were not just there at the level of conversation and discussion but at the level of execution and manifestation. There were two TE's of this college who had won National award in the annual Intel competition meet.

The TE's were found sitting till late in the evening in the college with the students interacting on different lessons of TAL. The computer room remained opened till the time the student teachers wanted them to use. There was an overall excitement which was distinctly evident from their gesticulation. The ST's were found appreciating their teachers to an unprecedented magnitude. So much so that one of them remarked, 'This College and its teachers have changed life completely. I am ready to take on the world and move ahead in life. This all has happened because of my great teachers."

The Principal of the college was a step further than the TE's. All the TE's of the college confessed the fact that it was because of her excitement and interest that TAL was happening at a high order. This was something which was also endorsed by the student teachers.

This was one college where the TE's perennially kept thinking of how to innovate ways in their teaching pedagogy so that boring and dry subjects were made interesting. There were quite a few evidences which substantiated this. One of the teacher educators had devised some interesting and new ways by which she had made the periodic table very interesting and easy to understand. There was a TE who through the help of technological input had made a game titled' Around the world in 60 minutes'. These all constituted a serious part of the student teachers' learning but imparted in a very effective and interesting way.

Waymade College of Education was the only college in the University where ICTE paper was made mandatory in the B.Ed course curriculum. This approach had a very good impact on those few student teachers who had some initial apprehensions towards technology integration. In fact the number of such students was too low as compared to other centers. The TEs were extremely happy and satisfied with the fact that Way made had an intake of very dedicated and. sincere students. They attributed a major" role of students in making TAL extremely successful.

A TE of the college said: "We get thrilled when we realize that the students have taken the essence of a class. It keeps us going and forces us to make learning all the more interesting. "

Another TE quoted, " I find my dream of becoming a good teacher and imparting every possible good knowledge to my students in a very effective and interesting way is getting materialized. It was primarily because of her exposure to TAL as that has broaden my horizon of thinking and I also feel more concerned towards students."

With the rapid stride of Intel training with every passing day, days are not far off when TAL would have. Entered every nook and corner of all educational institutions, thereby generating knowledge among students at a global level.
