Students
are helped in their studies through counseling and on-line
materials.
The peer council with faculty members tries to reach out
to students through friendly and informal ways.
Peer Council
One
of the healthy practices of Waymade College of Education
is to hand over the responsibilities to the students so
that they can learn to shoulder them. For that purpose the
Peer Council is formed every year in which 10 groups are
made. Each group consists of 10 students. The groups choose
their leaders / representatives. Then all the students of
the class vote to select their General Secretary.
This year the peer council was formed on 22nd
July 2011. Mr. Rutwik Raval was elected
the General Secretary and Ms. Akanksha Singh
was elected the Vice General Secretary of Waymade College
of Education for the academic year 2011 - 2012.
Each group advocates a value. The members of the groups
identify themselves specifically with that value. Throughout
the year, two groups work under the guidance of one faculty
member. They receive counseling on matters pertaining to
personal, professional and academic issues.
Dr. Sulabha Natraj, the president of the
Students’ Council is the over all in charge of all the groups.
Mr. Chirag Darji, the students’ counsellor
is the vice president of the students’ council.

Duties
of peer leaders
The peer leaders are a bridge or link of the faculty members
with the rest of the students. They orient and motivate
other students to participate in various activities of the
college. Prior to undertaking the responsibilities they
are briefed about various competitions, clubs and committees
of the college. All peer leaders are the members of at least
one club. They help in organizing activities of that club
and prepare report thereof.
Youth is energetic and even committed to the cause on
hand but at times looks lost because of absence of sense
of direction. With this view of helping the student teachers
to develop an understanding of one’s own self and the world
around faculty members at this college conduct informal
sessions for those who need special help. The counseling
sessions are held over a week for all.
The flexible yet long hours 10 am to 5 pm that the faculty
members spend at the college set an example to the students.
Further accessibility of faculty members outside the classrooms
help the student teachers to approach them for help.
