Academic 2010 - 11

August - 2010

1. Friendship day was celebrated at the college by B Ed and M Ed students on 2nd August.

2. Content based examination held on 3rd and 6th August.

3. Ms. Ranjana Dave, lecturer, Bhikhabhai Patel Arts College, Anand was invited to deliver a session on grooming for female faculty members at the college on 3rd August.

5. A workshop on 'Teacher Educators as Leaders of ICT' was organized by Intel® and Waymade Alumni Association (WAA) at the college on 11th August. The workshop was conducted by Mr. Dharmesh Acharya, national trainer Intel.

6. On 12th August, Mr. Dharmesh Acharya, national trainer Intel®, interacted with the B Ed and M Ed students of the college and gave them information about ICT in Education.

7. The 64th Independence Day was celebrated at the college with the participation of Mr. Vinay Pandya was chief guest.

8. A parents meeting was organized at the college on 15th August. 35 parents participated in it.

9. A peer chart competition was organized at the college on 15th August.

10. A patriotic song singing competition was organized at the college on 15th August.

11. Ms. Shamsha Emanuel and Ms. Sarika Chauhan attended a one day workshop on "E-content Development (NME-ICT)" jointly organized by the Sardar Patel University, Vallabh Vidyanagar and the Knowledge Consortium of Gujarat at M.P. Patel Auditorium, S P University on 21st August..

12. A one day workshop on teaching Sanskrit was organized at the college on 21st August, which was attended by 74 participants from six teacher education colleges in and around Anand. The workshop was conducted by Mr. Rohit Valand, faculty member at Waymade. The initiative was a unique one as there are hardly any workshops organized on teaching Sanskrit.

July - 2010

1. At the initiative of Dr. C L Patel, Chairman, Charutar Vidya Mandal, the students of B.Ed as well as M Ed programmes, faculty members and the Principal undertook a project of enhancing the quality of education in rural schools of the Anand District. As part of the Project, the Waymade team interacted with the academically poor primary school children of the Khambhat Taluka at weekends during the months of June and July 2010. The student teachers and teacher educators helped the children to acquire reading, writing and numerical skills. This Project was in response to a call by the Government of Gujarat to the citizens of the State to donate 100 hours towards helping the society. With their mission of societal reconstruction the Waymakers participated at the initiative enthusiastically and fruitfully. Going by the words of appreciation by some of the heads of the schools, residents of the villages as well as school children themselves, it was "a highly gratifying experience". Each one involved in the Project in different capacities was appreciative of the vision, mission and commitment of the Chairman of the Charutar Vidya Mandal towards the society.

2. The launching ceremony of M. Ed. Programme was held on 1st July amidst the gracious presence of the luminaries from the Charutar Vidya Mandal: Dr. C.L. Patel, the chairman Charutar Vidya Mandal presided over the function, while Prof. V.J. Trivedi, a veteran educationist in Gujarat was the chief guest at the occasion.

3. Cultural Evening was celebrated at the college on 1st July by B. Ed. and M. Ed. students.

4. Ms. Shamsha Emanuel and Ms. Sarika Chauhan attended a short term course on 'Minor Research Project' organized by UGC's Academic Staff College, Sardar Patel University from 1st July to 3rd July.

5. Two days workshop on Yoga held at the College by students of Dev Sanskruti Vishwa Vidyalaya, Haradwar on 6th and 7th July.

6. All the faculty members along with some students attended a talk on "Trends in Higher Education" delivered by Ms. D. Purendreshwari Minister of State HRD, Government of India on 12th July.

7. A cultural programme was jointly organized by our college and SPICMACAY, Gujarat, wherein a group of artists from Konark Natya Mandap, Orissa presented a dance performance called "Gotipua" on 14th July.

8. Ms. Shamsha Emanuel was invited to teach a paper on "Educational Technology" to 1st semester students of M. Sc. (Home Science) at Dept. of Home Science, S. P. University, Vallabh Vidyanagar.

9. Guest lecture was delivered by the members of Brahamakumaris on 'Self Awareness' at college on 15th July.

10. Poetry Recitation competition was organized at our college on 16th July.

11. The first FDI of the current Academic Year was organized a discussion on NAAC criterion wherein Ms. Dipali Gandhi, Mr. Ashish Hiwale and Mr. Chirag Darji presented the information generated with regard NAAC accreditation on 21st July.

Consultancy/ Training Programmes 2010 - 11

1. The project on 'Capacity Building of young female students through development of proficiency in English' was launched. About 45 girls from G J Sharda mandir participated at the programme funded by UGC's Women's Women's study Centre at the Sardar Patel University. Dr. Sulabha Natraj was the principal Investigator whereas Shri Chirag Darji was the coordinator for the project. Mr. Rohit Valand, Ms. Reena Chaudhary, Mr. Suresh Prajapati and Ms. Mital Patel were the other resource persons. This was held during April and May.

2. The project on 'Capacity Building through Computer training programme among the school children (mainly girls) of the community was launched in the month of April. Over 48 students participated at this training programme funded by UGC's Women's Studies Centre at the Sardar Patel University. Mr. Rakesh Ranjan was the Chief Investigator for the project. Mr. Keval Thaker, Mr. Amit Macwan and Mr. Bhavin Prajapati were the other resource persons. This was held during April and May.
